Token
A token is a small piece of text, about three quarters of a word, that an AI counts when it reads and writes.
In a simple example
The sentence I love fresh bread is about five tokens. A long page is thousands.
Why it matters to you
Tools count tokens to set limits and prices, so shorter messages cost less and fit better.
Do not confuse with
An AI token is not a login token. A login token is a secret key. See access token.
