Certificate cannot be issued because of a CAA record
Not checked against the vendor's current screens
What you may see
- The host cannot make an SSL certificate and a CAA record exists
Most likely cause
A CAA record lists which companies may issue certificates for your domain; if your host's company is not listed, it is refused.
Check first (about two minutes)
- Look up CAA records for the domain.
The fix prompt
What you type here never leaves your browser. The search runs on this page, and nothing is sent to a server or to an AI.
Kept only in this browser, on this device. Keys and passwords are removed before anything is saved.
Prompt language
Paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor, then follow what it says.
After you tried it, did it work?
Steps
- Read the CAA records and the names of the certificate authority my host uses (from its documentation).
- Add the host's authority to CAA, or remove CAA if I do not need it, keeping security in mind.
Do not do this
- Do not add many authorities "just in case".
- Do not delete other security records.
