Fix · Pages, phones and Arabic
Buttons or links do not respond on iPhone (work on computer)
Blocks your work
What you may see
- I tap and nothing happens on Safari
- Needs two taps
- Works in Chrome on the computer
Most likely cause
An invisible layer sits above the button, the click is on a non-button element, or hover styles make iOS treat the first tap as a hover.
Check first (about two minutes)
- Open the page in Safari on an iPhone (or the iOS simulator) and tap slowly: is there a flash or a menu?
- Check whether it is a button/link or a div with a click handler.
The fix prompt
What you type here never leaves your browser. The search runs on this page, and nothing is sent to a server or to an AI.
Kept only in this browser, on this device. Keys and passwords are removed before anything is saved.
Prompt language
Paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor, then follow what it says.
After you tried it, did it work?
Steps
- Find the element and check for overlapping layers (position fixed or absolute, full-screen backgrounds, pointer-events).
- Use real button and link elements (not div), with enough size (44 px).
- Put hover-only effects inside a (hover: hover) media query so phones do not wait for a second tap.
- Test in real Safari (or WebKit), not only in Chrome's phone mode.
Do not do this
- Do not trust only the Chrome phone simulation.
- Do not remove hover styles for desktop.
