iPhone photos (HEIC) do not show on my website
What you may see
- A photo from my iPhone is broken on Windows or Chrome
- The file ends in .heic
Most likely cause
HEIC is an Apple format that many browsers cannot show; websites need JPG, PNG or WebP.
Check first (about two minutes)
- Check the file extension of the broken picture.
The fix prompt
What you type here never leaves your browser. The search runs on this page, and nothing is sent to a server or to an AI.
Kept only in this browser, on this device. Keys and passwords are removed before anything is saved.
Prompt language
Paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor, then follow what it says.
After you tried it, did it work?
Steps
- Convert the pictures to JPG or WebP at a sensible size (about 1600 px wide for a full-width photo).
- Keep the originals; replace only the website copies; update the file names in the code.
- If visitors upload photos, add a conversion step or tell them clearly which formats work.
Do not do this
- Do not just rename .heic to .jpg: it does not convert the file.
- Do not delete the original photos.
