Fix · Pages, phones and Arabic
A service worker keeps serving the old site (PWA)
What you may see
- Even after deploying, some users see the old pages
- The site works offline but never updates
Most likely cause
A service worker is a script that stores pages in the browser; if it was written to keep files forever, it keeps serving them.
Check first (about two minutes)
- In the browser's Application tab, look at the registered service workers.
The fix prompt
What you type here never leaves your browser. The search runs on this page, and nothing is sent to a server or to an AI.
Kept only in this browser, on this device. Keys and passwords are removed before anything is saved.
Prompt language
Paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor, then follow what it says.
After you tried it, did it work?
Steps
- Find the service worker file and its caching rules.
- Make it check for updates: version the cache name, delete old caches on activate, serve HTML from the network first, and tell users when a new version is ready.
- If it is not needed, remove it and add a worker that unregisters the old one.
Do not do this
- Do not cache API answers forever.
- Do not break offline use if the site promises it.
