Links in my emails point to localhost or the wrong site

What you may see

  • Customers click a link in the email and it does not open

Most likely cause

The email builds its links from a site address setting that still holds the local address or is empty.

Check first (about two minutes)

  1. Open one email and hover over the link.

The fix prompt

What you type here never leaves your browser. The search runs on this page, and nothing is sent to a server or to an AI.

Kept only in this browser, on this device. Keys and passwords are removed before anything is saved.

Prompt language

Paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor, then follow what it says.

After you tried it, did it work?

Steps

  1. Find how links in emails are built.
  2. Use one site address setting, set it per environment, and fail loudly in production if it is empty or contains localhost.
  3. Re-send the affected emails only after I confirm.

Do not do this

  • Do not hard-code the address in many places.
  • Do not email all customers again without my approval.
