Back up my project and files

What you may see

  • What if my computer breaks or the AI deletes something?

Why this step

A backup you never restored is a hope, not a backup; a good routine has copies in two places and one test restore.

Before you start

  1. What exists only on your computer: code, images, documents, .env values?

The prompt for this step

What you type here never leaves your browser. The search runs on this page, and nothing is sent to a server or to an AI.

Kept only in this browser, on this device. Keys and passwords are removed before anything is saved.

Prompt language

Paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor, then follow what it says.

After you tried it, did it work?

Steps

  1. List everything that makes up the project: code (Git), images and uploads (storage), environment values, and documents. For each, name where the copy lives.
  2. Set up simple automatic copies: code on GitHub, images and uploads in cloud storage with a second copy, and a password manager for environment values.
  3. Write a short restore guide in plain words and do a test restore into an empty folder.

Do not do this

  • Do not keep secrets in the backup folder in plain files.
  • Do not store backups in the same place as the original only.
