Next step · What to do next
Import and export data (spreadsheets) safely
What you may see
- I have my products or customers in a spreadsheet
- I need a report in Excel
Why this step
Imports are the easiest way to damage data in bulk; a safe import validates, previews and can be undone, and an export must not leak more than the person may see.
Before you start
- Which columns and rules (required, unique, allowed values)? Who may import or export?
The prompt for this step
What you type here never leaves your browser. The search runs on this page, and nothing is sent to a server or to an AI.
Kept only in this browser, on this device. Keys and passwords are removed before anything is saved.
Prompt language
Paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor, then follow what it says.
After you tried it, did it work?
Steps
- Define the file format with a downloadable template (headers, example row, UTF-8 so Arabic is kept).
- Import in two steps: upload and validate everything (show errors with row numbers), then show a preview of what will change, and apply only after confirmation in one safe transaction; keep a copy of the file and a way to undo.
- Export only what the role may see, protect against spreadsheet formulas (cells starting with =, +, -, @), and keep amounts with three decimals.
- Test with a file that has Arabic text, bad rows, duplicates and a very large size.
Do not do this
- Do not run formulas from imported cells.
- Do not import on the live database without a backup.
