1. Prepare a simple square icon (no tiny text), export an SVG or ICO, PNG sizes for tabs and a 180 pixel Apple touch icon, and a maskable icon for Android.
2. Link them in the page head and the manifest; check light and dark tab backgrounds.
3. Test in a private window and on a phone, remembering icons are cached for a long time.
