Next step · What to do next
Add Arabic (full right-to-left) to my website
What you may see
- I have an English site and want a proper Arabic version
Why this step
A good Arabic site is not a translated copy mirrored by force: it needs its own address, direction, fonts, natural wording and tested layouts.
Before you start
- Who will check the Arabic text: a native reader?
The prompt for this step
What you type here never leaves your browser. The search runs on this page, and nothing is sent to a server or to an AI.
Kept only in this browser, on this device. Keys and passwords are removed before anything is saved.
Prompt language
Paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor, then follow what it says.
After you tried it, did it work?
Steps
- Set up two language versions with their own addresses (for example /ar), the html lang and dir attributes, and a language switch that keeps the current page.
- Move all text into language files, no words inside the code; write Arabic by meaning, not word for word, in natural modern standard Arabic, and list terms for a native speaker to confirm.
- Use logical CSS properties (margin-inline-start, padding-inline-end, text-align: start), flip direction icons only, keep logos and numbers as they are, and isolate left-to-right pieces (phones, prices, codes).
- Choose an Arabic-capable font with suitable line height, no letter spacing, and test forms, menus, sliders and tables at 390, 768 and 1280 px.
- Add alternate-language links, a sitemap with both languages, and Arabic titles and descriptions; translate emails and error messages too.
Do not do this
- Do not publish machine translation unreviewed.
- Do not change the English pages.
