Next step · What to do next

Connect my own domain name to the website

What you may see

  • I want www.mybusiness.com instead of a long host address

Why this step

A domain is your business address on the internet; it should be in your business's name, connected once, and renewed on time.

Before you start

  1. Is the domain registered in the business's name, with an email you control?
  2. Does the site already work on the host's own address?

The prompt for this step

What you type here never leaves your browser. The search runs on this page, and nothing is sent to a server or to an AI.

Kept only in this browser, on this device. Keys and passwords are removed before anything is saved.

Prompt language

Paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor, then follow what it says.

After you tried it, did it work?

Steps

  1. Explain in plain words what a registrar, nameservers and DNS records are, in four lines.
  2. Tell me exactly which DNS records my host needs for the main name and for www, and which I add at the registrar (names of fields; the places may be labelled differently).
  3. Choose the main address (with or without www) and make the other redirect to it.
  4. Check https works, then update the site's canonical address, sitemap, share image and any callback addresses (sign-in, payments).
  5. Remind me to turn on auto-renew, keep a payment card current, and set a calendar reminder.

Do not do this

  • Do not register the domain in a developer's personal name.
  • Do not delete existing mail records.
