Set up email DNS records (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC)

Blocks your workNot checked against the vendor's current screens

What you may see

  • I want business email on my domain and do not know which records to add
  • Email to my domain bounces

Most likely cause

Receiving mail needs MX records that point to your mail provider; sending trusted mail needs SPF, DKIM and DMARC records.

Check first (about two minutes)

  1. Which provider hosts the mailboxes (the one that gave you the addresses)?

The fix prompt

What you type here never leaves your browser. The search runs on this page, and nothing is sent to a server or to an AI.

Kept only in this browser, on this device. Keys and passwords are removed before anything is saved.

Prompt language

Paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor, then follow what it says.

After you tried it, did it work?

Steps

  1. Ask me which provider(s) send and receive mail for the domain (mailboxes, website forms, newsletters).
  2. Tell me the records each provider needs; combine them into ONE SPF record, and add DKIM records exactly as shown by each provider.
  3. Start DMARC in monitoring mode (policy none) with a report address I read, and only tighten it later after checking reports.
  4. Tell me how to test sending and receiving with two outside mailboxes.

Do not do this

  • Do not publish two SPF records.
  • Do not remove the existing MX records while testing.
