Email stopped working after I changed DNS

UrgentNot checked against the vendor's current screens

What you may see

  • I changed website DNS and now email does not arrive

Most likely cause

Moving nameservers or replacing records removed the MX and TXT records that the mailboxes need.

Check first (about two minutes)

  1. Find the old records: a screenshot or export from before, or your email provider's setup page.

The fix prompt

What you type here never leaves your browser. The search runs on this page, and nothing is sent to a server or to an AI.

Kept only in this browser, on this device. Keys and passwords are removed before anything is saved.

Prompt language

Paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor, then follow what it says.

After you tried it, did it work?

Steps

  1. Ask me for the mail provider's name and look up its required records (from its documentation).
  2. Compare with the current records and tell me exactly what to restore (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC).
  3. Explain that messages sent meanwhile may be retried by senders for a while or bounced.

Do not do this

  • Do not switch mail provider in a panic.
  • Do not delete any more records.
